Profit Targets
The Thunder program consists of an Evaluation followed by a Funded Account:
- Evaluation Profit Target: 6%.
- Funded Account Profit Target: 3%.
Only profits from closed trades count toward the applicable Profit Target. Floating profits do not count until the position is closed.
The Evaluation requires a minimum of 1 trading day. Once the Evaluation Profit Target and all applicable requirements have been completed, the trader may progress to the Funded Account.
The 3% Funded Profit Target is the objective used to generate profits that may become eligible for payout, subject to the applicable payout conditions.
Risk Limits
The following risk controls apply during both the Evaluation and Funded stages:
- 2% Daily Pause.
- 4% Maximum Loss EOD.
Daily Pause
The Daily Pause is set at 2%.
If the account reaches the Daily Pause threshold, trading is paused for the remainder of the trading day.
Reaching this threshold does not close the account. The account remains active and trading may resume on the following trading day.
Maximum Loss EOD
The Maximum Loss EOD is a 4% trailing limit based on the highest end-of-day account value recorded. The active loss threshold is calculated as Highest end-of-day account value − 4% of the highest end-of-day account value.
The limit:
- Starts 4% below the initial account value.
- Is recalculated when a new end-of-day maximum is recorded.
- Moves upward only.
- Never moves downward.
- Does not reset at the beginning of a new trading day.
- Remains active throughout the following trading session.
If the account value reaches or falls below the active Maximum Loss EOD threshold, the account is closed.
Consistency Target
The 30% Consistency per Position rule applies during both the Evaluation and Funded stages.
No single position may represent more than 30% of the total accumulated net profit.
The calculation is:
Profit from the most profitable position ÷ Total accumulated net profit × 100
If the result exceeds 30%:
- The account is not breached.
- The profits are not removed.
- The trader may continue trading.
- The applicable objective or payout requirement is not considered complete until additional profits reduce the percentage to 30% or below.
Copy Trading
Copy Trading is permitted only between NYS Markets accounts owned and controlled by the same trader and with the same account size.
Copying trades from third parties, coordinating trading activity with other individuals or replicating activity between accounts belonging to different traders is not permitted.
News, Swing and Earnings Trading
News Trading, Swing Trading and Earnings Trading are allowed.
Positions may be opened, closed or managed during economic news events and company earnings announcements.
Positions may also be held overnight and traded during pre-market and after-hours sessions.
All trading activity must continue to respect the Daily Pause, Maximum Loss EOD, Consistency Target and applicable share limits.
The reduced Swing / Pre-Market / After-Hours share limits apply whenever positions are held outside regular market hours.
Prohibited Trading Practices
NYS Markets permits different stock trading styles, provided that the activity reflects genuine market trading and responsible risk management.
The following practices are not permitted:

- Excessive order placement, repeated order modifications or order flooding intended to manipulate or overload the trading infrastructure.

- Copying trades or signals from third parties or coordinating trading activity with other individuals.
- Allowing another person or an external service to manage or operate the account.
- Any strategy designed to bypass, manipulate or avoid the applicable risk limits, consistency requirements or share limits.
